After some recent struggles, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish program managed to put together a tremendous five-man wide receiver group in the 2026 recruiting class. Head coach Marcus Freeman and wide receivers coach Mike Brown found some answers this past cycle, and the hope is that momentum continues in the future.

An early name to know for the 2027 recruiting class is Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge wide receiver Zerek Sidney. The Arizona native has shown a lot of interest early, and things are heading in a great direction. Notre Dame is making an effort to get top talent out of the state of Arizona more regularly, and Signey is definitely a player to keep a close eye on moving forward.

The talented pass catcher has set up a slew of game visits for the fall. That includes on October 18th when he will be heading to South Bend to see Notre Dame take on USC, which is huge for the Irish. The Trojans promise to be a strong contender as well, so the Irish have a chance to make a statement in front of Sidney.

He will also be checking out Oklahoma, Washington, Arizona State, Texas, and back again to see the Sun Devils for the second time. It will be a busy few months of traveling for Sidney, which could go a long way toward narrowing things down.

Sidney is currently considered to be a four-star player on the 247 Sports Composite ranking. That ranking has him pegged as the No. 315 overall player, No. 41 wide receiver, and No. 5 player in the state of Arizona for the 2027 recruiting class. The state of Arizona has been putting out more and more talent over the last several years.

While the rankings aren’t crazy for Sidney so far, the demand certainly is. The Arizona native has a long and impressive offer list, with a lot of options for his services on the next level. Some of his top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, USC, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida State, Arkansas, Arizona State, Washington, SMU, Indiana, Minnesota, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Kansas, Maryland, UCLA, Cal, and Purdue among others.

The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher is coming off of a tremendous season for Desert Edge as a sophomore. In 12 games, Sidney managed to haul in 45 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those numbers are expected to balloon during the 2025 season.
