Nothing makes college football better than all of the traditions associated with each program. Every Saturday we sit down, eat, drink, and celebrate our fandom. That is true of current NFL players, who routinely deliver their glory and sometimes have friendly rivalries with their current teammates.

We saw current Kansas City Chiefs and former Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill take to X today, throwing some subtle shade on his teammate George Karlaftis. A tremendous defensive end for the Chiefs, Karlaftis was an outstanding player for the Purdue Boilermakers in college. The two teams faced off, and let’s just say that things were going well for Purdue.

After a brutal 16-14 loss to Northern Illinois last week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish needed to get things rolling this week, and boy did they. The first half ended with the Irish holding a 42-0 lead, with the offense rushing for an almost unbelievable 278 yards rushing. As a defensive player, that wasn’t what Karlaftis wanted to see.

This has been a fierce rivalry once upon a time, but the Irish have dominated recently. With the assumption that they will be able to finish this one off, that would be the ninth straight victory for Notre Dame in the series. I imagine Tranquill won’t let Karlaftis forget it for a while.
