Neimann Lawrence was at Ohio Stadium to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Michigan Wolverines in an NCAA football game on Saturday Nov. 30, 2024.

Notre Dame football is on the quest to find its 2027 quarterback, with names like Champ Monds, Kamden Lopati, and Davin Davidson being the names to know right now. While head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish are busy finding their 2027 signal caller, they also have their eyes on several talented 2028 signal callers, as well.

One of the early names to know in 2028 is Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Neimann Lawrence. According to 247 Sports national recruiting analyst Tom Loy, the Florida standout is heading to South Bend for a visit this weekend. This will give Freeman, quarterback coach Gino Guidugli, and the Irish an early look at one of the elite quarterbacks in the country, regardless of class.

Notre Dame doesn’t put out too many early offers, especially at the quarterback position, most recently. The Irish have not extended an offer to any quarterback yet, but I am curious if that changes after this weekend. Lawrence has a very intriguing skill set, and several big-time programs have been taking notice. Whatever happens in the end, it is a good sign to see Lawrence making the trip to check out the Notre Dame program, especially with how high the demand is for his services.

Neimann Lawrence’s recruiting background

Lawrence is considered to be a four-star and top-100 player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Lawrence is currently rated as a five-star, the No. 27 overall player, the No. 3 quarterback, and the No. 8 player from the state of Florida for the 2028 recruiting class. Each site views him as a potentially elite signal caller.

As legit as Lawrence’s recruiting rankings are, his offer list might be even better. Some of the top programs that have offered him so far include Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M, Miami, Nebraska, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, TCU, Arkansas, SMU, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Colorado, Pitt, Arizona State, UCF, West Virginia, Syracuse, and Purdue, among others.

The 6-0.5, 202-pound put together a tremendous sophomore season while with Miami (Fla.) Northwestern in 2025. In ten games, Lawrence managed to throw for 1,971 yards and 32 touchdowns, with just one interception. The Florida native also rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries, an average of 11.6 yards per carry.

Lawrence began his career with Miami (Fla.) Ransom Everglades as a freshman in 2024, throwing for 2,777 yards and 31 touchdowns, while also rushing for four more scores on the ground. He is set to star for American Heritage next season.
