Mandarin's Brysen Wright (1) looks on during the second quarter of a high school football matchup at Mandarin High School, Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. The IMG Academy Ascenders defeated the Mandarin Mustangs 57-7.

Over the last couple of years, Notre Dame football has made a concerted effort to recruit the wide receiver position at a higher level. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have also wanted to tap more into the hotbed of talent coming out of the state of Florida as well. We have seen both areas have an uptick in recent years, which is important for the future of the program.

Notre Dame extended an offer to elite 2028 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin wide receiver Brysen Wright recently, who has the look of the next great wideout to come out of a state that regularly puts out big-time passing game weapons. Getting in as early as possible with Wright is important, especially considering that the demand for him is going to be extremely high. There is going to be a huge battle for a player like Wright.

Just coming off his sophomore season, things are still extremely early in Wright’s recruitment. Will Notre Dame have a chance in the end? It is way too early to know for sure. Regardless, this is going to be a battle. The Irish staff doesn’t typically offer too many recruits this early, but clearly, Wright is a special football player who deserves that type of early attention.

Brysen Wright’s recruiting background

Wright is already considered to be an elite recruit in the 2028 class. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Wright is currently rated as the No. 1 overall player in the entire 2028 recruiting class. He is also rated as the top overall player on the On3 recruiting ranking as well. It will be interesting to see if ESPN follows suit whenever the site gets around to ranking the Florida native.

Like his recruiting rankings, Wright’s offer list is already at an elite level. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, Miami, Auburn, Florida State, Missouri, Nebraska, Louisville, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Pitt, South Carolina, Boston College, Maryland, Wisconsin, Baylor, UNC, Syracuse, Duke, Wake Forest, and UCF, among several others.

As a sophomore in 2025, Wright turned in an outstanding season for a talented Mandarin team. In 12 games, the 6-3.5, 215-pound pass catcher managed to haul in 46 receptions for 983 yards and 10 touchdowns, an average of 21.4 yards per reception. That was coming off a standout freshman season where the Florida star collected 31 receptions for 646 yards and eight touchdowns despite sharing the football with 2025 four-star wideout Jaime Ffrench.
