The Ohio State Buckeyes are essentially nightmare fuel for the Tennessee Vols at this point.
Not only did the Buckeyes throttle the Volunteers in the first round of the College Football Playoff last season, but Ohio State may now also be on the verge of stealing a key four-star recruit from Tennessee's backyard.
2027 four-star running back David Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/200 lbs from Chattanooga, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 5 running back in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Tennessee (he's also rated as the No. 93 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class).
Georges is originally from Canada, but he enrolled at Baylor School in Chattanooga last year (Baylor School, which is where Vols wide receiver Amari Jefferson played in high school, is a little under two hours away from Knoxville).
Tennessee has received multiple visits from Georges over the last eight months, but Ohio State looms as a big threat for the talented running back.
"The 2027 four-star running back from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School has been coy about his clear leaders but Ohio State is definitely going to be up there," noted Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney this week.
Georgia, Ole Miss, and Oregon are also in the mix for the four-star running back.
There's obviously still a long way to go in this recruiting battle. But if Ohio State identifies Georges as one of their top running back targets, it's going to be awfully difficult for Tennessee, or any other program, to win this recruiting battle.
