One former Ohio State wide receiver is still making an impact on the game of football even if it is not in the NFL.
This past weekend, former Buckeye Binjimen Victor scored his first touchdown of the season for his Birmingham Stallions team in the United Football League and it was a special one.
Victor broke multiple tackles on the 12-yard catch and run that resulted in six points for the Stallions. Birmingham defeated the Houston Roughnecks in the game by a score of 35-25. For Victor, it makes his first touchdown since his days at Ohio State.
On the season for Birmingham, Victor has 11 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown in eight games that he has played in. The Stallions are the top team in the UFL with a record of 8-0 at this point in their season.
At Ohio State, Victor was never the primary target for the Buckeyes but consistently produced as a depth option from 2015-2019. In both his sophomore and junior seasons, Victor finished with about 350 yards receiving each year. As a senior, Victor caught 34 passes for 545 yards and six touchdowns.
Following his college career with the Buckeyes, Victor was not drafted and signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. While Victor has never appeared in an NFL regular season game, he was with the Baltimore Ravens’ active roster for parts of the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The 2024 season is Victor’s first with the Stallions, who made the switch from the USFL to the UFL when the merge happened. While he’s not in the NFL, he’s still making money to play the game he loves, and that’s a win.
Perhaps the 6-foot-4 wideout will get another NFL chance eventually and if he does, his time in the UFL will have done nothing but help him. Buckeye fans will always remember the rumbling touchdown that Victor made happen against Penn State during the 2018 college football season.
Ohio State will soon get their chance to impress No. 1 wide receiver in the country enough to commit
The Buckeyes will have their chance.
