Unexpected upsets are a big part of what makes college football so compelling each fall.

That's why it's intriguing that CBS Sports recently put the Ohio State Buckeyes on upset alert for an early season matchup that's mostly flying under the radar.

CBS Sports pointed out several 2025 matchups that could result in a big upset and they included Ohio State's game against the Washington Huskies on September 27.

From CBS Sports: The Buckeyes play four teams we're expecting to be ranked inside the top 25, but the Huskies are not one of them. And that's part of what makes this one so enticing. Virtually unbeatable under Ryan Day against unranked competition, Ohio State's lone loss under that scenario came last season against Michigan. Prior to that, a 49-20 setback at Purdue during the 2018 campaign was the last time the Buckeyes dropped a Big Ten contest to a team outside of the top 25. Husky Stadium will be rocking when Ohio State rolls in and quarterback Demond Williams Jr. will test a new-look defense under Matt Patricia.

I'm just going to go ahead and say that I'll be absolutely shocked if Washington upsets Ohio State in September.

Sure, it's a road game, and Huskies fans will be hyped to see the defending national champs comes to town, but Ohio State is the far more talented team.

And that's true even though the Buckeyes lost a lot of talent from last year's national championship team. After all, they still have the best player in college football in wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. And they have another stud wide receiver in Carnell Tate.

College football can be unpredictable, and you never say never, but I could see the Buckeyes winning this game in blowout fashion.
