Following the National Championship run that Ohio State made, they now have to turn their focus to the future.

Rumors have floated that both of the coordinators of the Buckeyes could end up on the move. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles is drawing interest from Oklahoma, Penn State, and Oregon. In the end, he is going to end up the highest paid at his title in college football.

Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, on the other hand, is drawing interest from the NFL once again. Head coaching gigs around the league have filled up and now the new coaches are working on filling out their staffs. Kelly is a name that has come up.

According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, Kelly is a target for both the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars’ OC jobs. Kelly has been at Ohio State for one season following a run as the head coach at UCLA.

Houston opted to move on from OC Bobby Slowil and are now looking for their next offensive coordinator to work with former Buckeye C.J. Stroud at quarterback. The Jaguars just hired Liam Coen to be their head coach and he figures to call plays because that is what got him there.

Ohio State played in a lot of early blowouts where they ran the clock late in games, which factored into the numbers. Kelly was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013-2015 and led the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. That was the last time that Kelly had been in the NFL. Whether or not he wants to make the jump is yet to be seen, but he was on the road in California recruiting this weekend.

When you have a good team, you often have to face tough decisions like this where assistants could leave. If that were to happen, Ohio State would adjust as they always have
