There is no debate that C.J. Stroud is the single biggest player that is representing Ohio State in the NFL right now. While Ohio State has loads of talent in the league, no other player is doing it quite like Stroud is right now.

Playing the most important position in the game combined with being near the top of that position in terms of talent will do the trick. The former Buckeye was the Rookie of the Year in the NFL last year and has the Houston Texans off to a 2-0 start this season.

Following the Texans’ 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day revealed that he sent Stroud a message about the game.

“I did text him after the game,” Day said on Tuesday during his media availability. “Just proud of the way he’s handled himself. The way he has endured himself to that organization, the way he has built hope into that organization. The way guys are rallying around him, the way he is playing, the way guys are rallying around him.

I just couldn’t be prouder of the way he’s going about his business on a day-to-day basis, and he’s got a lot of people in the building pulling for him.”

Stroud starred in Columbus for a pair of seasons before becoming the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns with just five interceptions. Through two games this season he has 494 passing yards and three touchdowns to zero interceptions.

Day has helped multiple quarterbacks reach the NFL from Ohio State and Stroud leads that pack of players. It is clear that Day and Stroud likely have a lifetime bond because of the time that they spent in Columbus together.

This won’t be the last time we hear Day talk about Stroud in pressers, as he is often brought up for what he is doing in the NFL at a high level.
