Buckeyes Fall in Week 2 Media Polls

Why did the media have the Buckeyes fall? It's likely because they have not played a quality opponent, whereas Texas is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance and won at Michigan in a blowout. It's hard to blame voters here.

Cumulative Poll

Georgia continued to lead at the top in both polls, with No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Alabama, and No. 5 Ole Miss completing the top five in the Coaches Poll.

Along with Ohio State, other Big Ten teams featured in the polls included No. 6 Oregon, No. 8 Penn State, No. 11 USC, No. 16 Michigan, No. 22 Washington, and No. 24 Nebraska, with Iowa dropping out of the rankings after a narrow defeat to Iowa State.

Texas moving up to No. 2 was the notable change besides the matching top five in the Coaches Poll. No. 8 Penn State was the next ranked Big Ten team behind the Buckeyes, with No. 9 Oregon dropping two places following a tight victory over Boise State.

No. 11 USC, No. 17 Michigan, and No. 23 Nebraska were also among the Big Ten teams ranked.

Notre Dame experienced the most significant drop in the rankings, falling 13 places to No. 18 after a surprising loss at home to Northern Illinois, which entered the AP Poll at No. 25.

Having triumphed in its initial two games by an aggregate score of 108-6, Ohio State now enters a bye week. The team will return on September 21, facing Marshall at Ohio Stadium.
