Former Ohio State LB Darron Lee appeared in court on Wednesday and was denied bond for the first-degree murder and tampering with evidence charges he faces after being accused of killing his girlfriend.
According to WTVC News 9, the bond was denied following a judge hearing a graphic testimony of the scene where Lee’s girlfriend was found dead. Disturbing details surface in former Buckeye Darron Lee’s murder case
According to WTVC, Lee was inside the home on Feb. 5 when police arrived and said that the victim had narcolepsy and likely fell in the shower, causing her injuries. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian Lockhart described a very disturbing scene at the address on Snow Cone Way.
“There was blood going up the staircase, on the hand railing there was blood, on the walls there was blood, on the floor in the living room there was blood, on the floor in the hallway, and the stairs.. there was blood in just about every room except one,” Lockhart said via the report.
Lockhart stated that a microwave was shattered, glass was scattered throughout the home, and alcohol bottles were present. Detectives found cleaning supplies upstairs, including bleach wipes, and a spray bottle.
An autopsy on the victim revealed that she suffered severe brain trauma, a broken neck, excessive bruising, bite marks, stab wounds to her legs, and significant facial trauma. It was determined that the death was due to blunt force trauma.
Lee was a member of Ohio State’s 2014 national championship team and starred for the defense for two seasons before he became a first-round pick by the New York Jets in 2016. Lee spent three seasons with the Jets, then a year with the Kansas City Chiefs, and eventually flamed out in 2020 with the Buffalo Bills.
The former Buckeye will remain in custody as the case moves forward in the state of Tennessee.
