The Ohio State Buckeyes are working to land a couple of top prospects in LSU's backyard despite that being a battle that has been proven quite difficult for every rival program. Still, it's worth the time for Ryan Day and Brian Hartline since Louisiana produces some of the most skilled recruits in the world. The latest is top-100 recruit and elite wide receiver Jabari Mack.

Mack told On3 that he's planning official visits to Ohio State, LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M. But the most interesting part of his statements revolves around his relationship with Hartline and the Buckeyes.

“I haven’t visited Ohio State since last summer, so I want to get to the spring game before the official visit. Ohio State has great coaches and it starts with coach (Brian) Hartline. He texts me a lot, he has that young attitude and he is very straight-forward. He has moved up to the offensive coordinator position, so I feel that is even better for receivers. I like what Ohio State does with receivers, how coach Hartline played in the NFL and the way he talks to me.”

This has to be music to the ears of Buckeye fans. We know Hartline is an amazing recruiter and one of the best assets of any program in the nation. To get the curtain pulled back a little bit from 2026's 15th-ranked receiver is a cool moment.

Mack himself is quite the dynamic threat. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native is 6 feet tall and 192 pounds. LSU has been putting a strong push to land Mack, which should be telling them they don't want to lose an in-state recruit with a sky-high potential.

Both Ohio State and LSU scout, recruit, and develop receiving talent extraordinarily well.
