The 2025 NFL Draft is close to eight months away, but that doesn't mean it's too early to get a good read on expectations for how this fall will go. The nation's top playmakers will be jockeying for collegiate glory and professional dreams soon enough. This is especially the case for a loaded Ohio State Buckeyes team.
If the 2024 season goes as planned, the Buckeyes could break an NFL record with players selected in one class from one school. Recently, A to Z Sports expert Ryan Roberts wrote a full first-round mock. In that 2025 NFL mock draft, he has three Buckeyes featured,
We'll look at each of those three selections and whether they make sense.
Ohio State Buckeyes Featured in 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Minnesota Vikings Select Denzel Burke 11th Overall
The Buckeyes' secondary is the best in the nation, and Denzel Burke is the best draft-eligible talent of a unit with at least five future NFLers. Physical, fast, and a ballhawk, Burke would immediately fill a major need in Minnesota. It's easy to see Burke thriving in Brian Flores' versatile defense, seeing as he has the traits and experience in Jim Knowles' unit to know he does well regardless of alignment.
The Vikings have continued to throw assets at the cornerback position but have failed to properly identify long-term starters. That might change in 2024 as Andrew Booth and Akayleb Evans continue to get experience. But, Fabian Moreau might be their best corner, so it's possible they could overhaul the entire room next offseason.
The most surprising part of this pick is that Burke goes ahead of Notre Dame's Benjamin Morrison. I like Burke a lot, but he's currently below Morrison on my cornerback positional rankings.
Emeka Egbuka Lands in Pittsburgh at No. 15
It always pains Buckeye fans to see Ohio State stars land in Pittsburgh, but they've often played well when it happens. Emeka Egbuka is a seamless projection to Pittsburgh. Egbuka is an elite athlete who can play inside or out and win on short or deeper targets.
I liken Egbuka to Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua. Pittsburgh has an embarrassingly bad receiver room outside George Pickens, so reuniting Egbuka with Justin Fields would help round out an offense amid a revamp already.
Tyleik Williams Joins Jim Harbaugh's Chargers at 18
Would Jim Harbaugh add a Buckeye? I think he would, especially if it means bolstering up their terrible trenches. Tyleik Williams would be an ideal addition for the Chargers, as he brings exactly what they're missing to a unit that has been too soft for years.
Williams is fast despite being dense at 325 pounds and has more pass-rushing chops than most expect. He might be a bit redundant as a run-defender next to Justin Eboigbe, who was just selected in the fourth round of this last class, but you don't worry about Day 3 picks like that.
For my taste, this mock draft might be a little light on the Buckeyes, as Quinshon Judkins, Jack Sawyer, and maybe Jordan Hancock could even make it in the first round. However, there's no shortage of quality playmakers on this roster, and it's not an insult to have three first-rounders in any class.
