Ohio State is two wins away from their first National Championship in a decade. The Buckeyes have beaten Tennessee and Oregon already, now Texas stands in front of them and playing for it all.

The Buckeyes have been clicking on all cylinders through the first two games. Ohio State’s offense looks nearly unstoppable and the defense has been suffocating.

Leading the offensive charge has been the passing game and by the passing game, we mean Jeremiah Smith. The star freshman has four touchdowns so far in the College Football Playoff and has been automatic when the Buckeyes have gone his way.

After a big performance against the Ducks, one ESPN analyst thinks that NFL teams are going to be tanking in the future for the Ohio State wide receiver.

“You will have teams in two years for that ’27 Draft, tanking for him,” Orlovsky said on ESPN.

“For a wide receiver?” asked Mike Greenberg, co-host.

“Absolutely. He is that good,” said Orlosvky.

Losing games on purpose is a bit extreme but some believe that teams could actually do that to have the right to draft Smith.

Smith went for 187 yards on just seven catches with two touchdowns against Oregon in the Rose Bowl. The phenom freshman did most of his damage in the first half where the Buckeyes scored 34 points.

Luckily for the Buckeyes, Smith is only a freshman and will be in Columbus for two more seasons after this year. Smith will play through the 2026 college football season before he can enter the NFL draft in the spring of 2027.

“No. 1 pick, wouldn’t even be close. He would easily be the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft.”

Next up for Smith is the Cotton Bowl against Texas, and that game will be played on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
