The NFL trade deadline is getting closer and closer with just two days to go until Nov. 5 when trades around the NFL come to a halt. Action could pick up after Sunday’s game when teams get one last viewing of their team before making that kind of decision.

One former Ohio State Buckeye defender could potentially end up with a legit Super Bowl contender. The Kansas City Chiefs are one team that has reached out to the New Orleans Saints about cornerback Marshon Lattimore, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“The four-time Pro Bowl cornerback is not playing Sunday against the Panthers, but it hasn't stopped teams from calling about him, including the two-time defending champion Chiefs.” – Adam Schefter, ESPN

So, there is a possibility that Lattimore’s last game with the Saints was Oct. 27 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Pro Bowl cornerback has 15 interceptions in eight seasons with the Saints. Lattimore has played in 97 games but has missed 17 games combined over the two previous seasons. When healthy, Lattimore has proven to be among the league’s best. That is just something that hasn’t happened often lately.

At Ohio State, Lattimore had a standout redshirt sophomore season with four interceptions and became a first-round pick to the Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft. Lattimore only played in 19 career games at Ohio State. Lattimore is another player in the league that has ties to Cleveland, having gone to Glenville High School not far from where Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce attended at Cleveland Heights.

If Lattimore is moved to the Chiefs, it would be a nice turn for his career going to a team that is going to be in contention for a Super Bowl. The Chiefs are 7-0 and have already made trades for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and pass rusher Josh Uche. Kansas City is now interested in adding a final piece and it could be a former Buckeye.
