Ohio State fans have a great chance to make an impact in the opening College Football Playoff game for the Buckeyes. When the Buckeyes host Tennessee on Dec. 21, there will be over 105,000 screaming fans in Columbus.

It will be a night game in Columbus, which has not been a common occurrence this season. The Buckeyes will have just one playoff game at home, so it’ll be the only chance for Buckeye Nation to fully dominate the crowd.

One former Buckeye that is now on the Vols doesn’t believe that Ohio Stadium compares to what Tennessee is used to.

"The Shoe isn't as loud as the SEC," Vols DB Andre Turrentine said in an interview on Tuesday. "It is a different animal here. Whether you're in South Carolina at nighttime or whether you're in Arkansas at nighttime. Whether you're at Neyland (Stadium) at nighttime, or the daytime for that matter, it's loud here. I would (say) it's deafening."

There is not an SEC stadium that holds more fans than Ohio Stadium. Of the stadiums that Turrentine mentioned, Neyland Stadium where Tennessee plays is the biggest and sits about 101,000 people. It is hard to believe that Ohio Stadium doesn’t compare to any of those stadiums, especially at its best at night time.

Turrentine was a player that the Buckeyes got out of Tennessee in the class of 2021. He played in just three games as a freshman, then transferred back home. Turrentine is having his best season as a senior now with 35 tackles and an interception.

Turrentine’s comments were not 100 percent negative about the fan impact in Columbus. He did give some credit.

"I would say the Shoe is the same way, they have really diehard fans that are willing to make enough noise to achieve what they need to," Turrentine explained. "So I would say that the SEC is a little bit louder, but the Shoe brings it as well."

Buckeye fans will get a chance to prove Turrentine wrong and make an impact on the game from the beginning. It will be a frigid night likely but expect the stadium to be filled with scarlet
