After their last two games against Oregon and Nebraska, there is fair reason to be worried about this current Ohio State team, and whether or not they will be able to accomplish the goals they laid out.

After losing a close one to Oregon on the road by a score of 32-31, the Buckeyes had a bye week to look at things and get better. Ohio State came out of the bye week and just barely squeaked by Nebraska, who had the doors blown off them by Indiana the previous week.

Now, even former players are seeing some issues with the Buckeyes. Former linebacker and fullback Zach Boren appeared on THE Podcast and went off on what he is seeing.

“The lack of emotion, the lack of pure leadership, and the lack of killer instinct are all major concerns for me,” Boren said. “In a game like that on Saturday, when you’re playing Nebraska and you know you should be blowing them out, there should be guys holding dudes accountable on the sideline. On the field, grabbing them and telling them to get their s*** together. There should be some emotion from that standpoint. On Saturday, there was nothing. I was at the game and looked at the sidelines. It was like a funeral.”

Ohio State led Nebraska just 14-6 at the half and was outscored in the second half. The Buckeyes hanging on by four points against a team that Indiana beat 56-7 is all the reason to worry. Ohio State still has to play Indiana, but that won’t come until after playing Penn State. If Ohio State plays like they did against Nebraska, they will finish this season with multiple losses.

"There we so many guys in my era that were on that team that there were times that we wanted to kill each other during the game because we were so p***** off at each other. But that night we were having beers together, and we were singing Kumbaya, and it’s the greatest thing in the world. You need to have that on-off switch. These guys are so sensitive that they can’t have that."

Ohio State returned a ton of leadership that could have gone to the NFL Draft. Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Denzel Burke, and Tyleik Williams to name a few. To have these issues that are being noticed by former players is alarming.

“When this team goes out, it shows zero emotion, shows zero fight, shows all these things, especially (right) after getting beat on national television in arguably the biggest game of the year on your schedule in the regular season. You follow that up with a dud performance (against Nebraska). That is what frustrates me.”

At noon on Saturday, it’ll be the Buckeyes in University Park, Pennsylvania to take on No. 3 Penn State. If a switch doesn’t flip, it may be a long Saturday for the No. 4 Buckeyes.
