The NFL trade deadline is a bit over a week away on Nov. 5 and a former Ohio State standout has been traded ahead of it.

Linebacker Jerome Baker was traded to the Tennessee Titans along with a fourth-round pick in exchange for Titans linebacker Ernest Jones IV.

Baker now goes from a team that hopes to be in the playoffs to a team that is not going to be in the playoffs. The former Buckeye had signed a 1-year deal with the Seahawks last offseason and is scheduled to be an NFL free agent after the season.

So far this season with the Seahawks, Baker has made five starts and recorded 30 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in five starts.

This marks the third team that Baker has played with in his NFL career after being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Baker recorded 587 tackles, 22.5 sacks, five interceptions, and six forced fumbles in 94 career games with the Dolphins.

Baker was a star at Ohio State in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, Baker had 83 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, and 10 tackles for a loss. He followed it up with another stellar season of 72 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble for a touchdown.

Throughout his NFL career, Baker has proven to be a linebacker that can do a little bit of everything. He moves well and is able to rush the passer, play in coverage, and thump in the run game.

Now ahead of the Week 8 NFL season, Baker gets to make the trip across the country to Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans play the Detroit Lions this Sunday, which could be Baker’s debut with his new team.
