The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will meet in Atlanta on Monday night in the College Football Playoff championship game.

Ohio State is looking for its first national championship since the 2014 season when Urban Meyer led the Buckeyes to a win against the Oregon Ducks in the first ever College Football Playoff championship game.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, is looking for its first national championship since 1988 when the program went 12-0 under Lou Holtz.

Earlier this week, former USC Trojans quarterback Matt Leinart joined The Ryen Russillo Podcast and he made his prediction for the championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Leinart has the Buckeyes winning and covering the 8.5 point spread.

"Notre Dame's got a great defense," said Leinart. "But it is a copycat kind of league, just like the NFL. I think it's just hard, man. Like, (OSU offensive coordinator) Chip Kelly's a really good coach. And the difference is Ohio State's defense is elite, too. That's the difference. It's not just offense. It's both sides of the ball. So I think it's going to be — what's the spread, eight and a half or something like that? I think Ohio State's going to cover. I think they're going to win big. And I think in the fourth quarter, they'll really kind of roll.

The majority of the predictions this week have favored Ohio State, including predictions from former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops and former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray

I'm sure Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman doesn't mind those predictions at all. In fact, it's just a little extra motivation for the Fighting Irish.

Ohio State and Notre Dame will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Monday night (January 20).
