There may not be a better way to open Week 1 of the 2025 college football season than with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on the road against the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus.

It marks the start of the Arch Manning era for Texas after he sat behind Quinn Ewers the past two seasons. Ohio State, meanwhile, turns to its own former five-star recruit, Julian Sayin, who will be making his debut as the Buckeyes’ starter.

Viewership for this matchup will be massive — but many Ohio State and Texas fans may be at risk of not being able to watch.

YouTube TV–Fox standoff could impact Ohio State–Texas broadcast

According to multiple reports, Fox and YouTube TV are at an impasse over a new carriage deal. The two sides have until 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday to reach an agreement, or Fox channels will be pulled from the platform.

“Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date and we are in active and ongoing negotiations to continue carrying their content,” YouTube TV said in a recent statement. “Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive. Our priority is to reach a deal that reflects the value of their content and is fair for both sides without passing on additional costs to our subscribers.”
