Saturday was the toughest test for Ohio State to date and it resulted in the Buckeyes having their best performance of the season all in all.

Ohio State rolled to a 35-7 lead and held Iowa scoreless until the final minutes when they put together a touchdown when the game was already well decided.

The Hawkeyes only trailed 7-0 at halftime and that appears to be enough to be a moral victory for one member of the team.

"Obviously the college football experts weren’t expecting that, but in-house, we were,” said linebacker Jay Higgins.

Still, the second half showed why there are two halves of football to be played. Ohio State forced turnovers, made touchdowns look easy, and held Iowa to just 226 total yards. On the other side, the Buckeyes had 412 yards of offense and completed 7-of-11 third-down attempts. Another moral victory for the Hawkeyes could be that Ohio State was held to their lowest point total of the season so far

Higgins did go out and record 14 tackles and a sack against Ohio State. He is a quality player that even Ryan Day mentioned.

Ohio State is 5-0 on the season and it is about to get a lot tougher with a trip to Eugene, Oregon on tap next. It will be a battle of two undefeated teams next weekend when the Buckeyes take on the Oregon Ducks. Iowa marked the first game of a tough four game stretch.

The Buckeyes haven’t been tested in a close game yet this season, at least in terms of a complete game. Only time is going to tell if that costs them next week against the Ducks in crunch time, or if it is a non-factor.
