The Ohio State Buckeyes were up for the task back on Friday against the Michigan Wolverines but fell in just a four-point game to end their Big Ten Tournament run after a win over Iowa. 

Ohio State’s run down the final stretch of the season earned them a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament where they’ll play TCU on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. ET in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Buckeyes weren’t at full strength against Michigan with a key role player out, but the good news is on the horizon for March Madness.

Key bench player Taison Chatman was not able to suit up against the Wolverines with a nagging injury. Chatman is a scoring threat and shooter off the bench and it was a key absence for the Buckeyes. 

“Taison, again, he tried to be available for the game Friday,” Jake Diebler stated on Sunday. “Just couldn’t quite get there. You guys saw (Christoph) Tilly get a little banged up there at the end and we had to get him out.”

We weren’t sure if he was going to be able to go back in. We had some guys who utilized today to get healthier. But I feel like, come Thursday, we’re going to have everybody available and that’s nice as a coach to feel good going into a game like that.”

Everyone available is a must-have for the Buckeye. Forwards Brandon Noel and Puff Johnson will both be able to play. Ohio State is likely to go seven deep in the postseason the majority of the time with big man Ivan Njegovan being No. 8 and getting a few minutes. 

Ohio State ended its season 21-12 with wins in four of its last five games, including victories against Purdue and Iowa. 

Now, the Buckeyes will face a 22-11 TCU squad led by a balanced scoring attack with four players averaging between 10 and 14 points a game.
