Key Ohio State matchup ranks as most expensive ticket in 2024, but it's not The Game

The Ohio State Buckeyes are no stranger to demanding high ticket prices. Everyone wants to see an elite program and hopes to see their downfall. That's especially the case for a rare matchup, which we're getting more of as conferences expand to feature new opponents.
The latest evaluations of the secondary ticket market show the Ohio State Buckeyes have the fifth-highest ticket price to enter a key road game against Oregon. That's right, it's not The Game, which is Michigan vs. Ohio State.
The average cost of entry for Ohio State at Oregon on October 12 is a whopping $365 per ticket, per Blake Munroe of OnTexasFootball. That mark is fifth behind Texas vs. Texas A&M, Navy vs. Army, Texas vs. Michigan, and Texas vs. Oklahoma. The numbers on those tickets range from $445 to $625.
Shockingly, the Buckeyes don't appear again on this list. Even Cincinnati vs. Colorado ranks above The Game, which comes days after Thanksgiving in November. This includes Indiana vs. Northwestern at $275.
The top games for Texas are all at neutral sites so that partially explains why the Longhorns are getting a bit of a boost in these prices. The Army vs. Navy game is insanely valued, but there's an element of tradition and exclusivity with those tickets that's baked in. But I found it odd that The Game isn't listed, so I did some sleuthing alone.
Lo and behold, The Game should be among the top 10 games. Right now, at Tickpick, the cheapest single ticket is $486, which would rank third overall. I found Ohio State's trip to Oregon as low as $397.
Either the original scraper didn't properly account for fees or it didn't know the best place to shop for tickets at accurate prices.
Regardless, The Game remains the preeminent matchup of any CFB battle. That will continue to be the case for many years to come. However, it's clear Oregon will be a major draw for Big Ten teams.
