Often times when a rookie enters the NFL, their landing spot plays a large part in their career trajectory. That may not be the case for all higher-end prospects, but many it can.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be one of the first non-quarterbacks selected in next month’s draft and I’d go as far as saying he will be one of two. Either Harrison or Notre Dame T Joe Alt will be the first player who is not a quarterback to hear their name called.

The draft very well could shape up to have the first four picks being quarterbacks. After that, the Los Angeles Chargers are on the clock and could be the perfect spot for the former Buckeye.

Why the Chargers and Marvin Harrison Jr. are a match already made

The Chargers are heading into a new era with Jim Harbaugh at the helm. They watched their top two wide receivers exit with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. The running game is going to look different with Austin Ekeler now in Washington with the Commanders. Insert an elite talent that can make plays like Harrison Jr. to help rebuild from the losses.

Los Angeles could take a tackle and Joe Alt is a tremendous player and would be a fine draft pick. But pairing Justin Herbert with Harrison Jr. for the course of his career is something that the Chargers should not pass up. There is no reason that the Chargers should be picking this early again and Harrison is the best wide receiver prospect in well over a decade at

Harrison is going to be a bona fide chain mover in the NFL that gets open consistently. A younger Allen essentially lands in Los Angeles who is more explosive and has a bigger catch radius.

From Harrison’s view, you would be happy to land with one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. You know entering the NFL you have someone that is going to get you the ball on day No. 1. There are going to be plenty of targets up for grabs in the offense.

Harbaugh watched Harrison the last three years every time he turned on Ohio State tape and went up against them while at Michigan. In 2023, Harrison caught five passes for 118 yards and a touchdown against the Wolverines.

Things could change and the Arizona Cardinals still need to trade out of the No. 4 overall pick to a quarterback-needy team. But if things work out the way they’re trending, there’s a very good case that Los Angeles has a new star.
