Ohio State wouldn’t have won a National Championship last season if it wasn’t for the impact that Jeremiah Smith made as a true freshman.
From Day 1, Smith was the Buckeyes’ top option on the offensive side of the ball, and that never changed. Going from Marvin Harrison Jr. to Smith being the star of the offense was a smooth transition for the Buckeyes.
Harrison Jr. returned to Columbus for Ohio State’s pro day on Wednesday and watched members of the same 2021 recruiting class he came in with work out for NFL teams. The former Buckeye also shared quite the statement about Smith.
“I think he is the LeBron James of football,” Harrison Jr. said in a sitdown interview with The Podcast. “He’s built differently than everybody else. Just athletically gifted, just the mindset that he has as a football player. It’s really special to see … the talents out the roof. Who he is as a person, his character, there is no limit for them.”
Smith burst into the college football world with 76 catches for 1,315 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns in his first season. Most impressive was that Smith stepped up when the lights were the brightest. The star wideout had five touchdowns during the College Football Playoff and four of those came in the first two games.
“Every record there is at Ohio [State] he’s going to have it,” Harrison stated. “There’s nothing he’s going to leave college not having done.”
Luckily for the Buckeyes, they’ll have Smith around for two more seasons as long as everything goes according to plan. Expect the 6-foot-3 wideout to do some serious damage during that time.

Would be a welcomed addition.
