The Ohio State Buckeyes are champions. In every sense of the word, they climbed the college football mountain in 2024, and they're officially back on top.

Michael Thomas' bold prediction

Following the Buckeyes win over Notre Dame, former Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas made a prediction. Thomas says that Buckeyes star wideout Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes will be back in the CFP title game next season as well.

Thomas has been on record with his store support of his former team and Smith, specifically, all year long. He's believed that the young wideout is a generational talent, and he proved that consistently on the football field.

Smith has garnered comparisons to Julio Jones this season, and he projects as one of the biggest "can't-miss" prospects in quite some time, offensively.

Making history

The victory cemented the Buckeyes into some unique college football lore. They were the first CFP champion in 2014 when the bracket held four teams.

Now, a decade later, they're the first 12-team CFP champion after the latest change to expand how many teams made the field.

For OSU, they're building another impressive roster for 2025. No shocker there. They're already notable favorites over Michigan, too.

FanDuel has Ohio State as a -9.5 favorite over Michigan for November’s game that will be played in Ann Arbor, Michigan. So, oddsmakers currently think the Buckeyes will be a team that is two scores better than Michigan next season. Sherrone Moore is 1-0 as the head coach of Michigan against Ohio State and Day is yet to beat him since he took over for Jim Harbaugh. Next season, these will be two very different teams when they match up. Still, oddsmakers are rolling with the team that is coming off of a National Championship. — Brandon Little

OSU is heavily expected to be in the mix to win it all next season and will be ranked in the top five of nearly every preseason poll you'll see in the coming months. A well deserved nod after a huge success of a season in 2024.
