Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off of a National Championship run that will forever go down in history. However, there is still one hump they’re trying to get over.
The Buckeyes have lost to Michigan four straight times. Thanks to the expanded College Football Playoff, Ohio State’s season didn't end when they lost 13-10 to Michigan last November.
Ohio State will try to right the ship in November and avoid losing to Michigan for a fifth straight time. It isn’t going to get any easier, though, as Michigan is set to have some high-level quarterback play over the next few years.
Bryce Underwood was the No. 1 player in the class of 2025 and he’s the top quarterback that Michigan has ever landed. Underwood recently revealed on “The Rich Eisen Show” that he met with LeBron James, a known Ohio State fan and supporter. Underwood didn’t hold back on what he thinks is coming for the Buckeyes.
“We started talking and I said before this all started, just had to let you know I’m going to Michigan,” Underwood said to Michigan graduate Rich Eisen. “He was like, ‘Oh, yeah?’, Yeah, it’s over for Ohio State.”
That is some great confidence for Underwood coming in and that’s how it should be. However, it has been over for Ohio State for the last four years. Day and his staff have been unable to beat Michigan and have been outcoached in the majority of those games. Even when the talent level favored Ohio State like this last year, they were unable to get it done.
Underwood’s message won’t sit well with Ohio State fans, but this is the same level of confidence that Buckeye Nation would want to see from Julian Sayin or Tavien St. Clair
It isn’t made official yet that Underwood is going to be the starter for Michigan, but he should have every chance to win that job. Expect Underwood to give the Buckeyes fits the next few years, but the Michigan game remains a hump that Day has to find a way to get over.
