It took a very tough road to get there, but the Ohio State Buckeyes are once again National Champions.

Ohio State’s 34-23 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish was the final task at hand for the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff. Ohio State beat each of their four opponents by more than one score.

After beating Texas, it was known that Notre Dame could potentially offer a tough test for the Buckeyes because of how they are built. They run the ball well and have a good defense. Even the top playmaker for Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love sort of called out Ohio State before the National Championship.

"We want to play Ohio State. We lost to them last year in a game we should have won," Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love said over a week ago. "I feel like Ohio State is better than Texas. I want to play the best and win."

Ohio State held Love in check and Notre Dame never gave him the opportunity to get going. The star running back was not wearing a knee brace, which was different than his last time out there against Penn State. Even without the Brace, Love carried the ball just four times for three yards.

Riley Leonard did the most damage on the ground and carried the ball 17 times for 40 yards. Ohio State held Notre Dame to 308 yards while putting together 448 yards of offense themselves.

After the first drive of the game where Notre Dame went 75 yards for a rich down, the Ohio State defense was lights out most of the way. Maybe, just maybe, this team took exception to Love saying he wanted to play them.
