Ohio State is just one win away from their first National Championship in a decade after knocking off Texas in the College Football Playoff on Friday night.
The Buckeyes now will face Notre Dame, who is coming off of a win over Penn State in the Orange Bowl. The Fighting Irish are 14-1 after defeating the Nittany Lions, 27-24.
Heading into the National Championship, oddsmakers are already leaning one way with where this game is going to go.
The Buckeyes are -9.5 favorites to win, according to ESPN Bet. Ohio State’s money line can be taken at -400 and the over/under is 45.5.
Ohio State is coming off of a 28-14 win over the Longhorns and they entered that game -6 favorites to move on. A 75-yard touchdown by RB TreVeyon Henderson and a late 83-yard scoop and score by DE Jack Sawyer after a sack were the difference.
Just last season, we watched the Buckeyes grab a narrow 17-14 win over Notre Dame early in the season. Following the game, Ryan Day had the infamous Lou Holtz quote that went viral.
"I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now," Day said after the win in Sept. 2023. "What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We’re proud to be from Ohio. It has always been Ohio against the world, and it’ll continue to be Ohio against the world. But I’ll tell you what, I love those kids. We’ve got a tough team.”
With the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish matching up, we are set to see quite the ratings following this game. Two of college football’s biggest brands will be clashing in Atlanta on Jan. 20.
A lot of the money is leaning on Ohio State to grab the win and for Ryan Day to win his first National Championship. With a win, Day would move to 70-10 as the head coach of the Buckeyes.
