The Ohio State Buckeyes haven’t been able to have their full rotation together on the basketball court in months due to injuries.

Jake Diebler’s squad is 19-11 coming off a 94-62 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday night. The win makes two in a row for the Buckeyes after grabbing a huge win over Purdue on Sunday.

As long as the Buckeyes finish strong against Indiana they should be in the NCAA Tournament where they’ll be as healthy as they’ve been all year.

Brandon Noel is about to return for Ohio State basketball

Ohio State hasn’t had graduate transfer Brandon Noel on the court since Jan. 8 in a loss to Nebraska where he played just eight minutes before he suffered a leg injury against the Cornhuskers. The Buckeyes expect him to be good to go soon.

“We’ve got good news coming,” Diebler said on The Field of 68. “I think Brandon Noel’s going to be able to check into a game before the season’s over.”

Even better news is that Diebler said Noel won’t return with a minute restriction when he is back. It’ll be more about the senior needing to be in game shape. Noel has started 10 of the 14 games he’s played this season and averaged 7.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and an assist this season.

Noel put up 29 points and seven rebounds on 13-of-15 shooting in Big Ten play against Northwestern back in December. Ohio State getting the 6-foot-8 forward back for the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tournament would give the Buckeyes another solid rotational piece.

Freshman Amare Bynum has been Ohio State’s starting forward alongside Devin Royal with Noel out. The freshman has been impressive this season with 9.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Ohio State is getting healthy at the best time possible. The Buckeyes will be back in action against Indiana to close out the regular season on Saturday where Noel could return.
