The Ohio State Buckeyes will be in the news at several points of the NFL offseason. Between contract negotiations for several stars and the 2025 NFL Draft being loaded with Buckeyes, Ohio State will impact how teams maneuver throughout this offseason. One possible first-round pick is hoping to pair with a former teammate who is angling for a $120+ million deal.
Buckeyes all-time receiving leader Emeka Egbuka wants to land with the New York Jets. He'd pair with Garrett Wilson, who shared the field with Egbuka in Columbus in 2021. The two remain close friends.
Egbuka is often mocked in the twenties, so the Jets would either be making a shocking pick at No. 7 overall or get lucky with their early second-round pick.
Meanwhile, Garrett is angling for a new deal after asking for a trade if Aaron Rodgers wasn't jettisoned. The veteran quarterback will reportedly be released, which should placate Wilson briefly.
Wilson should command at least $30 million a year on a new deal based on his age, production, and talent.
Wilson was an incredible playmaker for the Buckeyes and has been excellent with the Jets despite the franchise being a constant mess. He made first-team All-American in 2021 when he caught 70 passes for 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Wilson and Chris Olave became the first set of Ohio State receivers to both be named first-team All-American in the same season.
Since joining the Jets, Wilson has totaled 279 receptions with 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns. Turning 25 this summer, he's certainly in line to score a huge deal. Will that be with the Jets or will it come from another franchise?
