Former Ohio State football player lands with Big Ten rival in the transfer portal by way of an unexpected move
The former Buckeye is heading to play for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks.
The transfer portal has been more active than ever in the past couple of weeks and the Ohio State Buckeyes have seen plenty of turnover.
Ohio State added 13 players via the portal and lost 31. The majority of the departures for the Buckeyes were from the back end of the roster depth. There were several players who had a chance to compete for major playing time that did decide to move on.
Now one of them will be seeing Ohio State in 2026.
Former Ohio State elite recruit heading to Oregon
Former Ohio State CB Aaron Scott Jr. has committed to play for the Oregon Ducks in 2026 after two seasons in Columbus. Oregon will play at Ohio State in Columbus on a date to be announced. Scott will have two years of eligibility left with the Ducks.
Scott was a five-star recruit and the No. 6 cornerback in the class of 2024. The Springfield, Ohio product played in 19 games with 11 tackles and a pair of passes defended. Leaving Ohio State the expectation was that Scott would be in search of more clear-cut playing time. That won’t be easy to find in Oregon with Brandon Finney and Ify Obidegwu both returning for the Ducks.
Former Ohio State commit Na’eem Offord is set to be in the picture for Oregon as well.
Ohio State has added former Alabama CB Cam Calhoun and former Georgia CB Dominick Kelly to help provide depth after losing Scott and Bryce West. Ohio State will return Devin Sanchez and Jermaine Mathews Jr. as its outside cornerbacks. Florida State transfer Earl Little Jr. could be the nickelback answer for the Buckeyes.
Scott heading to Oregon means that the Ducks now have three Ohioans in their defensive backfilled with S Trey McNutt and CB Dorian Brew both on the roster in Eugene.
