Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese putting on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine wasn’t a surprise if you’ve followed the Ohio State Buckeyes the last few years.

Styles and Reese have always been athletic freaks who were going to put up numbers. They are two examples of what linebackers coach James Laurinaitis can mold at the position as well. With Brian Hartline no longer at Ohio State, Laurinaitis may be the best developer and recruiter the Buckeyes have.

Ohio State inches toward landing another elite linebacker for the future

Five-star 2027 LB Kaden Henderson is down to five schools in his recruitment and the Buckeyes are a finalist. Along with Ohio State, it’s Miami, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, and Alabama in the mix for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from Florida.

According to 247 Sports Composite, Henderson is the No. 1 linebacker and No. 24 player nationally in the class of 2027. Henderson is scheduled to take an official visit to Columbus on June 12.

Ohio State has nine commitments so far in its No. 3-ranked recruiting class for 2027, per 247 Sports. Ohio State has one linebacker already committed with North Carolina four-star LB Quinton Cypher, who has been committed since December.

Getting Henderson on campus for his official visit and rolling out the red carpet there will be the big pics of the puzzle here. Anytime the Buckeyes can get a player in for an official, they at least have a puncher’s chance.

Laurinaitis’ development of Reese and Styles should be a great example to recruits of what can happen as a linebacker at Ohio State. Landing Henderson and him being a piece of the 2027 haul would be a game-changer.
