The Ohio State Buckeyes have been busy with recruiting in the class of 2027 ever since they sealed their 2026 class in December.

Ohio State has nine commitments so far in a class expected to be smaller than the 28 freshmen the Buckeyes just brought in. With a busy spring ahead on and off the field, the 2027 group will soon grow.

Ohio State is among the top teams for 2027 four-star offensive lineman

Central Catholic (PA) 2027 OT Jimmy Kalis announced the six schools he’s down to in his recruitment and Ohio State made the cut. Along with the Buckeyes, the 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle is considering Georgia, LSU, Miami, Texas, and Clemson.

Kalis is a top 300 player in the class at No. 247 nationally and the No. 24-ranked offensive tackle, per 247sports Composite. Kalis is the No. 10-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.

Most notably for Kalis’ recruitment, he is not considering Penn State at the moment. The new staff led by Matt Campbell has some ground to make up with Kalis if they want to get back into the picture.

Ohio State offensive line recruiting has already taken shape

The Buckeyes already have three offensive linemen committed for 2027. Kellen Wymer and Mason Wilt are the two in-state three-star commits for the Buckeyes. Brody McNeel is a three-star commitment from Virginia. All three players are listed as offensive tackles, but it’s very unlikely that all three stay at that position.

Ohio State is going to go hard for the big target in this class and that is five-star OT Mark Mathews. The Buckeyes will have a senior-led offensive line on the field in 2026, so they’re expected to bring in a large class in 2027 to help reload depth.

Kalis fits into the class as another piece along the offensive line if he wants to be in it. There isn’t an official visit set up yet, but one could happen this spring.
