Ohio State is keying in on their new running backs coach who will replace Tony Alford, who went to Michigan to take the same job.

The Buckeyes are set to bring on Carlos Locklyn to be their new assistant. Locklyn was position holding the same position with Oregon.

Locklyn had worked with Oregon leading the running backs for the past couple of seasons. In next month’s NFL Draft, we will see Oregon’s Bucky Irving be one of the running backs called first. Irving ran for over 2,200 yards in the last two seasons under the coaching of Locklyn.

Prior to his time with Oregon, Locklyn coached running backs at Western Kentucky for a season. He held the position of director of high school relations with Florida State and Memphis the previous two seasons.

Ohio State’s new addition will have a talented running back room to work with led by TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, who likely made the job an attractive one in year No. 1

There will be shoes to fill with the departure of Alford to Michigan, who was with the team for eight seasons. But it seems like the Buckeyes have added an up-and-coming coach that had already had success at a school that will contend for the College Football Playoff.
