The Ohio State Buckeyes are fighting not only for this season but the future of the program. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are striving to assemble an elite recruiting class for 2025, and one standout four-star recruit could help make that a reality.

Mikkel Skinner, a four-star tight end from South Carolina, has announced that he will reveal his decision on Tuesday, October 22, at 5:00 p.m. ET via the 247Sports YouTube channel.

He has narrowed his choices down to five schools: Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, USF, and Ohio State.

Previously committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats in June, Skinner decommitted last month. At 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, he possesses the ideal Big Ten physique, which is why several top programs are showing interest.

Regarded as a consensus top 15 tight end in his class, he has the potential to make a significant impact early in his college career. On3's recruiting prediction machine, which has had varying results, projects him to land with Kentucky. However, 247's Crystal Ball predictions agree that it's likely Kentucky.

Here's the scouting report from 247Sports' Scouting Director, Andrew Ivins:

New-age F tight end prospect who can line up in the slot, in the backfield, or out wide and stretch the field with his second gear. Clocked one of the fastest verified 40-yard dash times for any prospect north of 220 pounds in the 2025 cycle spring before senior season and owns a promising multi-sport background for the position. Displays the ability to change speeds as a route runner and has flashed a larger catch radius. Evasive with the ball in his hands and can shed his fair share of tackles, which likely stems from time spent at running back as an underclassman. Hasn’t been utilized much as an attached blocker at the prep level, but fights to open up run lanes out on the perimeter and has delivered some blows on kick coverage, which suggests that he’s got the mental makeup to eventually handle some in-line work. Overall, should be viewed as a potential offensive chess piece at the Power Four level that can create plenty of issues for opposing linebackers and safeties with his rare athleticism.
