The time has come for Ohio State to learn what their postseason fate looks like.

In the first round of the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes will host Tennessee as the No. 8 seed. If the Buckeyes can win that game, they would move on to play the No. 1 Oregon Ducks for a second time.

Ohio State’s loss in the final regular season game against Michigan cost them a chance at a Big Ten Championship, which would have landed them a first-round bye.

The Buckeyes other blemish this season was a 32-31 loss to Oregon back in October on the road. Ohio State could again see the Ducks for a second time, this time with stakes much higher.

Last season, Ohio State did not make the College Football Playoff thanks to a loss to the Wolverines. This season, the expanded format gets them in without much worry. After that loss to Michigan last week, the pressure is on Ryan Day and the Buckeyes to step up in the playoff. An early exit could cause for things to get ugly in Columbus.

Ohio State hasn’t won a National Championship since 2014 when they beat Oregon to win it all. That was a decade ago and the expectation in Columbus remains for Ohio State to compete to win it all.

With a record of 10-2, Ohio State is looking for win No. 11 on the season against the Vols. Buckeye Nation will have a great chance to make an impact at home. The game will be played on Dec. 21 at 8 p.m.
