The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to be well represented in the 2025 NFL Draft over the next couple of days.

With the first round of the draft wrapped up and four Buckeyes being drafted, Ohio State a chance to challenge the number of players drafted in one year from the same college. Georgia had 15 drafted in 2022 and that leads the way.

A bit of a surprise to some is that one Buckeye fell down the board a bit, though he ended up in a great spot.

Ohio State OT Josh Simmons goes to the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 32 overall

Josh Simmons was stellar for the Buckeyes in the six games he played in 2024. Here at A to Z Sports, we had Simmons as the No. 21 player in the draft. The ugly knee injury six games in against Oregon hurt Simmons’ stock, though he is expected to be ready to go for training camp. After making the transfer over from San Diego State, Simmons blossomed into a first-round player with the Buckeyes.

Now with Kansas City, Simmons will have a chance to earn a starting gig protecting QB Patrick Mahomes, which has to be a dream scenario for him.

“Even with the Chiefs’ decision to sign Jaylon Moore in free agency, the offensive tackle position remained a massive need for the team moving forward. Moore is on a two-year deal, averaging $15M per year. The 2025 NFL season marks the last year that Jawaan Taylor has guaranteed money on his contract, and cutting him in 2026 can save the Chiefs a boatload of salary cap space.” Charles Goldman, A to Z Kansas City

Buckeye Nation will surely be rooting for Simmons at his new destination as he embarks on his NFL career. He may have went later than he should have, and for that Simmons may end up the steal of the draft.
