Ohio State Buckeyes tight end Max Klare has flown up NFL Draft boards for 2026 over the course of this season. That being said, there is still a job left for him to do for the fans of his current team. Klare and the Buckeyes are ready to bounce back on their way back to the College Football Playoff title game. The future can wait.
Max Klare reveals that Ohio State is still hungry after loss to Indiana and time off
There is not a sense of comfort for Ryan Day’s team right now. Instead, tight end Max Klare says that the team remains hungry as Miami awaits next on the schedule. It’ll be Ohio State’s first action in the College Football Playoff this season, but they don’t plan on being rusty to start the matchup. They understand that they need to start fast and keep the foot on the pedal to ensure they come out on top.
“We have a lot to prove,” Klare said, adding that Ohio State now has a chip on its shoulder. “I think the guys are excited to go write a story after what happened a couple of weeks ago.” — Max Klare via Chase Brown
Klare also acknowledged that the Buckeyes are an “angry” team right now due to the Conference Championship loss to Indiana recently. That defeat still sits with them, and they preferred the winning ways and feelings that coincided them. That makes plenty of sense for a team with sky high expectations both inside and outside the building.
The productive tight end is still mulling the decision of whether to will stay at Ohio State for his final year of eligibility or enter the 2026 NFL draft. That choice will loom large for the Buckeyes in the long-term over the next month.
Klare can certainly play a pivotal role against the Hurricanes as well. There will be plenty of focus on the star wideouts in Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, and Miami boasts some exciting cornerbacks in the secondary. Attacking the middle of the field intermediately, with Klare, could be the most efficient way of forcing the Hurricanes defense to take some pressure off of the receivers.
Nate Boerkircher, Texas A&M’s tight end, had a couple of important catches in their loss to Miami but totaled just 33 yards. Expect a lot more looks to Klare than the Aggies presented at that position because their passing offense struggled horrifically in the loss.
All in all, there are a lot of distractions for the Buckeyes to consider as this game nears. It doesn’t seem like those are taking up any real estate in their minds right now. Instead, they’re ready to get back on track and start proving, once again, that they are the top team in the country.
