Ohio State Buckeyes have landed a massive win over the Miami Hurricanes before the Cotton Bowl even kicks off
A big win for the Buckeyes on the recruiting front because of who it came against.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have the majority of their focus on the task at hand with the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State will play its first College Football Playoff game of the current run on New Year’s Eve.
Ohio State gets a big splash win over Miami ahead of the Cotton Bowl
Ahead of the Cotton Bowl, Ohio State has landed one of the top recruits in the country. On Monday evening, 2027 5-star EDGE DJ Jacobs picked the Buckeyes over Miami and Texas A&M. As late as Monday afternoon, the majority of the predictions favored the 6-foot-5 athlete from Roswell, Georgia to choose the Hurricanes. It was Ohio State that Jacobs chose on Sunday evening, giving the Buckeyes one of the best players in the class of 2027.
According to 247 Sports Composite, Jacobs is the No. 1 EDGE and No. 8 overall player in the class of 2027. Landing the top player out of the state of Georgia and the Buckeyes have done that, for now. Ohio State has a long way to go until Jacobs can make it official and sign next winter. It took a big commitment on the NIL front for the Buckeyes to win this one over Miami and Texas A&M and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Ohio State has to up that offer in the end.
Ohio State and Miami recruit against each other each and every year. The Buckeyes have had some big wins over Miami including Jeremiah Smith. Now, they have the early win for Jacobs over the Hurricanes and have perhaps the best player in 2027 committed to play in Columbus.
