With the 2024 NFL Draft here, you always know a few Ohio State Buckeyes will have their name called, normally even on the first day.
While that’s the case again this year with a few Buckeyes expected to be chosen throughout the draft, there will be a lesser number of Ohio State players chosen overall.
Overall, the Buckeyes had at least five players started in every draft over the last decade. They’ve had at least six chosen in each of the last eight years.
Both of those streaks are in jeopardy, as Ohio State is going to have six or fewer players chosen this draft cycle. It isn’t because the Buckeyes were worse last year, they weren’t. Instead, it is because of how NIL impacts the game today and how many Buckeyes opted to return to school.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be a top-five pick and Mike Hall is expected to be a second-round pick or early third-round. Cade Stover is expected to come off of the board in the middle rounds. Linebackers Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers will hear their names called in the mid to late rounds. Josh Proctor could end up a day three pick as well, but that isn’t for sure.
Don’t expect the Buckeyes to have more than six players chosen and it could end up at four or five total. Ohio State was lucky enough to have multiple would-be NFL Draft picks return to Columbus.
The first round of the NFL Draft starts at 8 p.m. ET and will kick off the first of three draft days. It is time to buckle up and see where the Buckeyes land.
