The biggest storyline in college football's spring period has been a wholly unique one to this era. Just months after the Ohio State Buckeyes began its College Football Playoff journey against the Tennessee Volunteers, the spring transfer portal brought a potentially defining moment for NIL. Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava shocked the nation by falling out with the program and entering the portal.

The Buckeyes weren't likely to be affected by the news unless Iamaleava came to the Big Ten. With most teams having a settled situation by now or not planning on Iamaleava coming available, he had few options to choose from.

His newest landing spot means the Buckeyes will face Iamaleava in a rematch of the CFB Playoff First Round.

Colin Cowherd of The Herd surprisingly broke the news that Iamaleava is headed to UCLA over bigger programs.

"I am told — moments ago — Nico Iamaleava is going to UCLA. Family still claims it’s NOT about the 💰It’s about the @Vol_Football offense. I was not told what the Bruins are paying."

The Buckeyes shut Iamaleava down back on Dec. 21, 2024. The dual-threat quarterback completed only 14-of-31 passes for 104 yards and 47 rushing yards on 20 carries. He did account for two touchdowns, but the Buckeyes won 42-17.

UCLA will travel to Ohio State on Saturday, Nov. 15. Ohio State should be a major favorite by that point in the season.
