Ohio State Buckeyes aren’t giving up on handing the Texas Longhorns a major loss off of the gridiron

Ohio State football recruiting didn’t fall off one bit when the program was handed to Ryan Day from Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes have continued to produce top-five classes just about every cycle.
At quarterback specifically, the Buckeyes have recruited well under Day. C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord were both five-star recruits and more recently Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair are as well.
Even in the transfer portal, the Buckeyes made the right move with Will Howard getting him from Kansas State. However, the Buckeyes still need to figure out a quarterback for the class of 2026. There is plenty of time to go, but many of the top quarterbacks are already committed.
One player that the Buckeyes are still recruiting is five-star Texas QB commitment Dia Bell. Bell is ranked as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 13 overall player in the class of 2026. The Florida quarterback attends American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bell has been committed to Texas since last June.
The Buckeyes are just one school that is still recruiting Bell. National powers Georgia and LSU are other programs that are still recruiting Bell. The No. 1 player in Florida has over 40 offers and nearly every major program has had interest in him.
“Crafty quarterback prospect with a well-rounded game that has shown year-over-year improvement. Had junior campaign cut short due to injury, but put strong spells of play on tape while navigating through one of the more difficult schedules in the country. Frequently calm and collected in the pocket and isn’t one to flinch in the face of pressure as he uses his above-average athleticism to extend plays and get out of trouble. Smooth stroke and cleaner mechanics allow him to layer the football to the second level and exploit tight coverage windows. Utilizes plenty of touch on his deep shots and will lead his wide receivers to the promise land.” — Andrew Ivins, 247 Sports
In today’s age of recruiting you have to continue to recruit a player even after they commit. Texas is dealing with that with Bell, just like Ohio State is with their top commit Chris Henry Jr. As we get into warm weather and closer to the next football season, expect Ohio State to ramp up their efforts of finding their 2026 quarterback.
