Ohio State football’s recent visit with elite five-star player is already paying off in a big way for the Buckeyes
Ohio State is firmly in the mix to land one of the top players in the country from the 2027 recruiting class.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have the 2027 class as their main focus on the recruiting trail, where they’re off to a strong start.
Ohio State has nine commitments so far and the No. 3-ranked class for 2027, per 247Sports. The Buckeyes are now one step closer to adding another five-star to the mix with a player who recently visited.
Ohio State makes the final schools for five-star OL Maxwell Hiller
2027 OL Maxwell Hiller has the Buckeyes as one of his final four schools he’s considering, along with Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. Interestingly enough, Penn State didn’t make it for the five-star Pennsylvania native, and its three SEC schools, the Buckeyes, are battling.
Hiller was on campus on Jan. 30 for a visit, and while there isn’t an official visit scheduled, that’s expected to change at some point. The No. 1-ranked interior offensive lineman will take an Alabama official on May 29, then Tennessee on June 12. Hiller’s third official set is with Florida on June 19.
Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen is leading the charge for Hiller, and their relationship is growing steadily. Hiller has made the one trip to Columbus, and Bowen has made the trip to Coatesville, Pennsylvania, on multiple occasions.
Hiller is among the top targets for the Buckeyes at 6-5, 305 pounds. Ohio State has three offensive line commitments already, all listed at offensive tackle. Mason Wilt and Kellen Wymer are the in-state players, and Brody McNeel is in the class from Virginia.
Ohio State landing Hiller would be a huge recruiting win, along with the offensive line they could use. Getting him on campus for an official visit has to be the next step.
