Ohio State football shows they’re not done in the transfer portal quite yet with a new addition that will be welcomed
The Buckeyes have a new transfer portal addition that is a welcomed one.
The Ohio State Buckeyes had a busy month of January with the transfer portal and they’re not quite done just yet.
Ohio State now has addition No. 17 from the transfer portal, and it’s a player with Ohio ties at a spot of need.
Ohio State adds key offensive line depth via the transfer portal
The Buckeyes have added former Dartmouth offensive lineman Vesean Washington to their roster via the portal. The portal closed on Jan. 16 but players currently in the portal are still able to land with new programs.
Washington gives the Buckeyes a player who has allowed just one career sack in over 700 career offensive snaps. Ohio State’s latest addition comes from Springfield, Ohio.
At the very least, the Buckeyes are adding offensive line depth with starting experience, even if it’s not at the Power Four level. Ohio State hosted the 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman for a visit on Jan. 23.
2026 will be Washington’s final season of college football. It is the Buckeyes’ first addition along the offensive line from the transfer portal this cycle. The attractive thing with adding Washington is that he can play both guard and tackle, exactly the crossplay that the Buckeyes value up front.
Ohio State 2026 offensive line is in a strong spot
The Buckeyes will return four starters and took no real losses up front. Former starting RG Tegra Tshabola transferred to Kentucky, but he wasn’t in the picture to start for the Buckeyes in 2026 after a poor 2025 showing. Austin Siereveld, Luke Montgomery, Carson Hinzman, and Phillip Daniels return as starters.
Ohio State will have options at right guard that include kicking someone like Siereveld inside and starting Ian Moore at left tackle. The Buckeyes could also roll with either Gabe VanSickle or Josh Padilla as the right guards
Adding one more piece to the offensive line depth is a late portal for the Buckeyes, even if it wasn’t urgently needed.
