The ticketing process for the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff has been a mess. Now, with hours counting down until the kickoff between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, ticket prices are bottoming out.
After a brief inflation after resale tickets were posted, the weather has seemingly faded interest in going to the Horseshoe.
An Ohio State spokesperson indicated that tickets for the general public were initially set to start at $100 each, but just earlier this week, the starting prices for most tickets exceeded $200.
However, one day before the game, ticket prices have significantly decreased on various secondary markets, with the lowest tickets now available for under $100, excluding taxes and fees, on platforms like SeatGeek and StubHub. TickPick, which does not charge fees to buyers, has tickets for around $110.
The reason for this price drop is uncertain, but the cold weather expected for Saturday’s game, with temperatures projected to be in the low 20s, might be a contributing factor.
Additionally, more seats that are usually reserved for students could be opened up to the general public, as students are currently on winter break.
If you were hoping for a considerable drop in prices before making a decision, now is your chance.
