Ohio State QB Will Howard is one of several Buckeyes who will be drafted in late April from the team that won the National Championship.
Howard was able to raise his draft stock a ton in the one year he spent in Columbus. Now, he’s expected to be drafted no later than the fifth round of the NFL draft.
The Ohio State product didn’t throw the football the best at the NFL Scouting Combine and he received some boos from the crowd. Howard didn’t think he performed badly and had an idea of where the narrative was created.
“I thought I did pretty well. I think really it was Team Up North fans blowing it out of proportion," Howard said "I missed like two throws, obviously, but other guys did too."
Considering most quarterbacks didn’t receive negative feedback from the crowd after misses, Howard may be onto something here. The Ohio State quarterback bounced back at his pro day last week when 141 different NFL personnel members were in attendance.
Howard was the exact quarterback that Ohio State needed and they were able to land him in the transfer portal after Kyle McCord exited. Howard threw 35 touchdown passes to just 10 interceptions while completing 73 percent of his passes. The Kansas State transfer threw for 4,010 yards in 16 games. Howard was especially good during the four game College Football Playoff win with wins over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.
The 2025 NFL Draft begins on April 24 and will run through the 26th. Howard is expected to hear his name called in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Day 3 in what will be a life-changing moment for him.
