There's no player they want to land more than 5-star offensive tackle David Sanders. The nation's top blocker could be an immediate left tackle starter in 2025, so it's understandable. However, he committed to Tennessee in August.
The good news for Ohio State is he's expected to be on campus for a surprise visit against Michigan in The Game.
There have been rumors swirling that this points toward Sanders making the flip official sooner rather than later. The timing of the visit is particular, and it seems as though Tennessee did not know about the visit. Does that mean anything is official? No, as he still needs to show up and get swayed over the weekend.
However, this is clearly a sensitive situation. My Ohio State sources are mum on the topic, and the Sanders family has been tight-lipped throughout the process.
Here's what Sanders posted on Instagram.
Some fairly knowledgeable insiders who occasionally get good information have more confidence that Sanders is on his way to full flip. However, experts at 247Sports see it differently, thinking this late push from Ohio State will fall short.
The Buckeyes, using their mighty medical school as a valuable prize in addition to a starting job, are putting up a big fight. Is it fair to get the fan base worked up about the decision of a young man who seemingly loves what Tennessee has laid out for him?
Of course not. However, there's no doubt Sanders is someone to be excited about regardless of where he lands. Going to The Game would be smart even if he has no interest in flipping, as that's an elite environment worth experiencing in person.
