The way that Ohio State built their coaching staff for last season had a ton of impact on being able to go and win a National Championship season.

Bringing in Chip Kelly for a season was huge for the Buckeyes, but he wasn’t the only addition on the offensive side of the football that was key.

Ohio State poached running backs coach Carlos Locklyn away from Oregon. Now, Oregon is looking to get something back.

Oregon is suing Ohio State’s Carlos Locklyn for a breach of contract

According to Oregon Live, Oregon is suing the former running backs coach and current Ohio State running backs coach for money that the school says is owed due to his buyout. Oregon claims that Locklyn owed 50 percent of his remaining salary, which is about $400,000. Oregon states that the money was supposed to be paid within 60 days and was not.

Locklyn has mailed a personal check to the school for $200,000 and that happened in May of last year, according to Oregon Live. Oregon claims they returned the check in July because it was not the full amount that was owed.

“Coach Locklyn lawfully terminated his employment agreement with the University of Oregon and promptly delivered a check fully satisfying any possible obligation under the buy-out provision,” said John Berg, an attorney at Littler Mendlson P.C., which is representing Locklyn in the matter. “The University declined the check and now asserts an untenable interpretation of the agreement. We welcome the opportunity to present the facts to a judge and are confident the litigation will be resolved to Coach Locklyn’s satisfaction.”

Oregon is looking for the $400,000 and an additional nine percent interest.

Locklyn is heading into his second season with the Buckeyes in 2025 and will have a new look running back room with Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson exited. Now, the Ohio State assistant has some legal troubles to deal with as well.
