Ohio State is back at it this weekend after having an early season bye week last week. For the Buckeyes, it’ll be their third straight game that they are heavily favored in with Marshall coming to town.
It will be another opportunity for the Buckeyes to get a big lead and be able to play some of their depth late in the game.
Going into the game, Marshall’s head coach is not shying away from the talent difference, instead, he believes that the Buckeyes are the best team he has ever watched on tape.
“I’m not just saying that to get everybody excited,” Huff explained. “They’re really good. When you look across the board, I’m not saying every player is the best player in the country, but collectively, they have a really good, fast, explosive, physical football team. You kind of look at what they’ve done to build their team, $20 million in NIL resources invested into this team. They’ve been able to go out and acquire some of the best talent in the country.”
Ohio State was able to return the majority of their roster from last season, then go out in the transfer portal and get Will Howard, Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins, Seth McLaughlin, Julian Sayin, and others. It is not hard to see why the Buckeyes paid such a big price tag for this current roster. That is just the name of the game now.
The Marshall head coach recently poked fun at the Buckeyes, by saying he had a sweet NIL deal for any that may want to transfer. He was joking the entire way and Ryan Day had the perfect response to it.
“Sometimes, as coaches, we take ourselves too seriously. I thought he had a great moment there,” Day said. “(Marshall is) a good team. He’s a good coach. We got to be ready for them.”
Ohio State is favored by -40 in this matchup and it should not be close. Coach Huff is likely aware that it won’t be close, but he will still have his guys ready to play. To hear that the Buckeyes have the most talented team he has ever watched on film is notable.
